Extremely cold winter causes harsh humanitarian problems in Afghanistan, with the number of people killed by cold weather and heavy snow in several Afghanistan provinces over the past four weeks has risen to over 300.
As day by day the weather gets cold and cold it also increases the number of its victims in Afghanistan and the main reason for that is that the people don’t have full preparation for the winter.
As the people were interviewed by media they said that, they have economical problems and they can’t afford to get stove, wood, blankets and other equipments in order to cope with winter there for they face problems and the number of winter victims increases.
As most of the people are labors they say that when we come to city for work in a week we can get work for only 2/3 days in which we earn not more than 400/500 Afghanis which is about $8.00 or $10.00 and by that amount even we cant feed our families.
As the government and other humanitarian NGOs promised that they will support the people in this winter, due to heavy snow fall most of the roads to the far provinces from Kabul are blocked and they have to carry those equipments through airplanes to those provinces, which still didn’t happen.
And some of the families who came to Kabul from other provinces like Helmand and living under tents say that till now none of the Humanitarian NGOs and government supported anything to us. And till now a few people have died due to cold weather and most of them are the children.
Only in some of the provinces like Wardak the PRT (provisional reconstruction team) has supported stove, wool blankets, plastic sheets and about 9500 items of clothing to some of the and also one of the organizations has supported about 1900 boxes of medicines to them for which we really thank them.
So we kindly request the government and humanitarian NGOs to support the vulnerable families in this cold winter in order to decrease the number of the victims.

The people themselves need to come up and deal with their day to day problems at least.
